Tetra Tech is a leader in designing and delivering education programs that transform learning outcomes and build the foundations for sustainable, inclusive and equitable development.
We believe that improving education systems and supporting infrastructure with communities, and families at the centre of these efforts are key to creating lasting social and economic change. We understand that change within educations systems can take generations. By bringing evidence-based insights and global best practice to every engagement, we understand the challenges, enablers, relationships and ways of working to nurture positive change. Through collaboration with governments, NGOs, industry and in-country partners Tetra Tech develops targeted, culturally relevant programs that strengthen education systems and deliver impactful results.
Over the past 20 years, we have delivered more than 35 education programs across 21 countries and currently manage more than ten active programs in the Indo-Pacific region.
Developing human resources for education
Our team specialises in equipping education leadership at all levels of government, teachers and teacher educators with the skills and resources needed to drive sustainable education outcomes. We work closely with partner governments to strengthen human resource capacity across governance, policy development, and education management. This includes developing frameworks for preventing sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (PSEAH), enhancing health and safety standards, and implementing risk management strategies.
Our experience includes:
- Developing skilled and capable teachers through pre-service training, continuous professional development (CPD), and in-service support across a range of professional learning subjects and priorities
- Creating professional learning communities for educators and school leaders, through programs, networks and research, utilizing a range of modalities via online, in-person and hybrid opportunities
- Implementing school leadership programs, including mentoring and Women in Leadership initiatives, to foster engaged and resilient school leadership
- Influencing Policy discussion and development through application of learning and evidence from program monitoring, evaluation and research
Strengthening education systems
We understand that strong education systems require more than just skilled teachers. Our approach focuses on improving governance, management, resourcing, and curriculum development at all levels, from early childhood through to tertiary education. We collaborate with local stakeholders to create contextually relevant solutions that:
- Support curriculum and assessment reform aligned to partner government priorities, strategies and tailored to local contexts
- Introduce and enhance effective education technologies like Education Management Information Systems (EMIS) to facilitate data driven decision-making and enhance policy dialogue
- Develop systems for tracking learning outcomes through robust Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) frameworks, ensuring that program impacts are measured and continuously improved
Fostering inclusive education
Our programs are designed to ensure that educational program design recognises the diverse ways of learning for all learners especially those from marginalised and disadvantaged backgrounds. This includes programs that address barriers to accessing quality teaching and learning, curriculum and syllabus development, and improving experiences of teaching and learning to improve education outcomes. We use a twin-track approach to gender equality, disability, and social inclusion (GEDSI) that integrates targeted support for specific groups, such as girls, children with disabilities, and minority communities, and mainstreaming GEDSI activities to champion inclusive education. We ensure that our programs embed principles of GEDSI in program designs, implementation, monitoring and evaluation systems.
This inclusive approach is reflected in our initiatives such as Girls in STEM and gender-inclusive TVET programs, which encourage girls to pursue careers in non-traditional sectors, and sign language and vernacular language programs that improve accessibility and participation for diverse learner groups.
Connecting lifelong learning to pathways for skills and economic development
Our approach to education programming reflects our commitment and enthusiasm for lifelong learning. We understand that educational building blocks in literacy and numeracy set the foundations for access to further interests and opportunities. Our expertise spans early childhood education, primary and secondary schooling, and vocational and technical training. We design curricula that support student-centred learning outcomes, focusing on areas such as literacy, numeracy, STEM, climate change awareness, and resilience. Our vocational education programs are developed in line with local industry requirements, contributing to sustainable workforce development and economic growth. We seek to foster positive, imaginative, safe and joyful experiences of learning throughout our programs that ignites a passion for lifelong learning.
