Tetra Tech provides adapation and resilience services across the Indo-Pacific to help communities and nations adapt to the challenges of climate change.
Developing countries are especially impacted by climate change. With the increase in extreme weather events becoming more frequent and natural resources scarce, these countries need our support.
In addition to impacting on food security and living spaces, the effects of our ever-changing climate could exacerbate political instability, conflict and migration. Addressing climate change requires strong political will, innovative ideas and a broad range of expertise.
Tetra Tech applies technical expertise, scientific evidence and innovative technologies to build our region’s economic prosperity, empower communities and develop resilient physical and institutional infrastructure.
Building resilient communities
In both rural and urban areas, climate change impacts extend beyond the environment, influencing food security, living spaces and contributing to political instability, conflict and migration. Addressing these challenges requires not only strong political will and innovative solutions, but also a focus on sustainable development.
A major part of building resilient communities is effective planning. We know that there is no one-size-fits-all model for developing plans and Tetra Tech works on integrating climate risk and vulnerability to develop comprehensive and practical solutions to help communities prepare for the future. Our experts bring global expertise in:
- Developing and implementing pre-disaster planning and preparedness programs that empower communities and build resilience
- Creating decarbonization plans for urban environments to reduce cities’ greenhouse gas emissions Decarbonization through urban planning
- Designing and providing innovative, nature-based solutions and structural design for coastal communities seeking climate-resilient flood risk reduction and marine habitat restoration
Climate analysis and evaluation
We have implemented more than 20 large-scale international projects, including supporting the development of climate-ready school infrastructure in Kiribati and assisting civil society organisations in disaster preparedness and management in Fiji. We help prepare for, withstand, respond to and adapt to the challenges of climate justice and change.
- Evaluating government initiatives addressing climate change and providing expert recommendations on climate-related programming.
- Assisting the International Climate Fund in integrating gender consideration into its investments and strategies.
- Integrating climate resilience and low emission development into all aspects of our work, including across agriculture, food security, economic growth, infrastructure, rule of law, governance and energy.
