Tetra Tech is delivering the five-year Indonesia–Aotearoa New Zealand Geothermal Energy Programme (PINZ), a NZD 15.64 million initiative funded by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) in partnership with the Government of Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR).
Building on the success of previous geothermal development programmes, PINZ supports Indonesia’s energy transition and sustainable economic development through targeted geothermal technical assistance.
Our role
As part of the PINZ initiative, Tetra Tech provides end-to-end technical assistance and capacity building across three key areas:
- Sector Policy, Regulation, and Planning

Enhancing skills in the geothermal sector through vocational training, workshops, and support for Indonesian polytechnics and training institutions.
Impact
PINZ aims to:
- Accelerate the development of geothermal resources for both electricity and direct use.
- Build technical capacity to meet sector growth and decarbonisation goals.
- Foster inclusive, sustainable, and mutually beneficial partnerships between Indonesia and New Zealand.
