Tetra Tech is enhancing Laos’ human resources through scholarships, training, alumni engagement and organisational capacity building.
The Lao People’s Democratic Republic, central to the Mekong region’s economic landscape, faces challenges of uneven economic benefits distribution, high poverty rates and disparities affecting women, children and ethnic minorities in rural areas. To enhance labour productivity and foster industrialisation, strategic investments in education and skills are pivotal for Laos’s growth and ASEAN integration.
Our role and impact
The Laos Institute Australia (LAI), managed by Tetra Tech, represents a collaborative effort between the Australian and Laotian governments, dedicated to bolstering human resource development for inclusive and sustainable growth. It aims to enhance Laos’s human resources through scholarships, training, alumni engagement and organisational capacity building.
LAI directly collaborates with key organisations to address their specific human resource needs and manages the Australia Awards Scholarships and Short Courses. Over the course of the program, the Institute aims to assist in better management practices, policy development, women’s leadership, supporting individuals with disabilities and fostering collaboration, thereby promoting Australia’s long-term partnership in Laos’s human resource development.
