Advancing gender equality through digital tools
BEQUAL emphasises “digital learning resources” and “gender equality in education,” showcasing how technology can be a catalyst for educational progress in Lao PDR.
Empowering educators with digital resources
Under the guidance of the Ministry of Education and Sports’ Information Media Centre (IMC) and E-Learning Unit, educators in Lao PDR are receiving specialised training. This training focuses on creating high-quality videos that not only promote “gender equality in education” but also celebrate the achievements of outstanding women teachers. These resources are instrumental in enhancing the quality of education across the country.
Widespread impact and accessibility with digital learning resources
The digital content produced is widely accessible, reaching approximately 33,000 primary teachers throughout Lao PDR. This impressive outreach is facilitated through various platforms such as the Ministry of Education and Sports’ TV channel, an official website, and a dedicated YouTube channel – “ວິດີໂອສຳລັບການພັດທະນາຄູ Teacher Development Videos.” Since 2019, these resources have garnered over 2.5 million views, significantly impacting digital education in the region.
Women’s empowerment and technical training
A key aspect of this initiative is the empowerment of women, ensuring their active participation in technical roles within the film production teams. From scriptwriting to camera work and editing, women are provided with the necessary training and support, promoting gender equality in both education and employment sectors.
