Since 2017, the Aus4Skills program, delivered by Tetra Tech, has empowered over 120 women leaders in Vietnam’s public and private sectors through targeted leadership training and mentoring to advance gender equality.

The Australian Government’s Aus4Skills program, helps ensure the workforce has the right skills to meet industry needs.

Empowering women leaders to close gaps in exclusion and inequality

Vietnam’s public sector is experiencing a transformative movement to boost women’s leadership and gender equality.

Through the Women in Leadership Journey (WILJ) program, Tetra Tech facilitates a professional development initiative funded by the Australian Government’s Aus4Skills program, designed to increase women’s representation in leadership and decision-making roles.

Since its inception in 2017, 124 women leaders and managers have participated in this tailored program, which combines training sessions led by Australian and Vietnamese experts, leadership mentoring, and networking opportunities to expand participants’ skills, confidence, and influence.

Leadership training with lasting impact

In December 2024, 20 women graduated from the sixth cohort of WILJ (WILJ6), having engaged in tailored sessions aimed at enhancing leadership capabilities and increasing knowledge and awareness of gender equality principles.

The program’s focus is on equipping women to take on greater leadership responsibilities and lead meaningful change within their organisations.

Participants remain inspired to pursue application projects in their workplaces and communities after completing the course.

One notable alumna, Do Thi Thanh Binh, Head of the Training Division of the Department of Personnel and Organisation, Office of the Government, has leveraged her training to design and implement a new initiative reaching 1,500 women leaders across government agencies.

This initiative aims to boost their skills and confidence, thereby amplifying the program’s impact.

Creating a ripple effect across Vietnam

Graduates of the Women in Leadership Journey actively engage in knowledge sharing and support current participants, fostering a collaborative network of empowered women leaders.

Their efforts contribute to bridging gaps in exclusion and inequality across Vietnam’s public sector.

In September 2025, Tetra Tech will celebrate the seventh cohort of women to participate in this prestigious professional development opportunity, continuing to demonstrate its expertise in uniting stakeholders to advance gender equality.
